Who's who @ St Edmund's
| Team Rector
Rev Michael Gobbett |
|
Born in Kent, but brought up in Stamford, Lincolnshire, Michael came to read Mathematics at Durham University in 1982. By the time he graduated he had already made the decision that his vocation was to be the Church. After a year's placement in Kennington, South London he trained for the priesthood at St Stephen's, Oxford. After four years as a curate in the Parish of St Aidan and St Columba in Hartlepool he moved on as vicar at St Michael's, Norton where he spent eleven years before coming to the Upper Skerne. |
| Curate
Rev John Williams |
|
Born and raised in Wigan I went to study Theology at St Chad’s College, Durham. It was here that I embarked on the process of getting ordained. After leaving university I went to work as a pastoral assistant in an outer-city parish in Liverpool. With the help of Bishop John I chose to go to the College of the Resurrection, Mirfield. The life at Mirfield is intense and based around a strong community ethos, and so it is different for me as I enter Diaconal ministry living in a house on my own. However, I hope to be able to carry with me the centrality of fellowship outside of a college context and into a parish one. |
