at the Parish of Upper Skerne.

Enter these doors,

As if the floor within were gold

And every wall

Of jewels all

Of wealth untold;

As if a choir

In robes of fire

Were singing here.

Nor shout

Nor rush ...

For God is here/

Welcome to the Parish of The Upper Skerne.  We are a Team Ministry formed in April 2005, in the Rural Deanery of Sedgefield,  serving a number of varied communities south of Durham City.  It is in the Diocese of Durham of the Church of England and the Right Reverend Tom Wright is the bishop. Further information about the Durham Diocese can be obtained by accessing their web site.

Our churches are:

St Alban’s : Trimdon Grange; St Catherine’s : Fishburn; St Edmund’s : Sedgefield; St Mary Magdalene’s : Trimdon Village; St Michael and All Angels : Bishop Middleham and St Paul’s : Deaf Hill

We seek reveal the Kingdom of God in our Parish by:

Being the people of God, engaging with each of the communities in the Parish and making the message of hope brought through Jesus Christ accessible to all.

Supporting one another as Christian people in the mission of the Church to the world with a real partnership between the laity and clergy.

Affirming that all are equal in the sight of God and that we are called to be part of the wider community, supporting and cherishing it; being Christ’s body in his world.

Seeking out those who have a calling to any vocation for God’s work in the Parish.

Becoming a Parish which:

learns about the gifts and grace of God for all people,

 teaches theology, morality and ethics,

grows in faith and in confidence and

         broadens horizons.
